Can a partitioned mac run word 2008 for mac on the windows partition?
My parents don’t have a computer, so they have to use my mac. But they don’t know how to use mac so I’ve decided to partition it with windows 7. If I have Microsoft office 2010 for mac, can I just insert the disk in and install it on the windows partition, or do I have to go get a microsoft office word disk? Please help me!

Mac programs can’t run on Windows, and Windows programs can’t run on Mac (without other programs like Wine/Crossover). Just teach them the basics of using OS X. It’s a lot cheaper than dropping a couple hundred dollars on Office for Windows.

No, since when you buy Office Microsoft only allows you to run it on one computer and Microsoft doesn’t account for Windows and Mac OS on the same machine, buying Office 2008 gives you a version that only works on the Mac. If you want to have Office on Windows 7 you’ll have to go buy Office 2007 for Windows or install OpenOffice.

I will keep this answer nice and short. No, but you can get a program called Openoffice which is made by Microsoft but was released to the public and improved. Plus, its free.
